At a meeting last night of “The Conservative Coalition of Mississippi.” Jay Ramasy was one of the speakers last night. He presented a story of talking to the Secretary of State Michael Watson, showing that the voter rolls of Mississippi in each county have not been adequately maintained. This is what the “Guidelines of Voter Maintenance” says about the power of the Secretary of State, Mr. Watson;
1.9
Is there a recommended practice to maintain voter rolls?
The Office of the Secretary of State does not have the statutory authority to engage in the actual maintenance of the voter roll. However, our office is statutorily obligated to train all election commissioners. In doing so, our office provides the following recommendation as guidance, subject to any independent legal advice you may receive.I read this Guideline of Voter Maintenance last night, and it is a nightmare that no sane person or officeholder could maintain a voter roll as written. It has so many conditions and contradictions to have almost no meaning.
When laws without legal authority or power to enforce are passed, they are never implemented. Nothing will ever happen to force the voter rolls when the Secretary of State is not given the legal authority to enforce.
HERE IS A NOVEL IDEA:
Make the “VOTER RESPONSIBLE” to maintain their voting rights. After two federal elections with “NO VOTE,” you are moved to inactive, and after one more election, you are purged; as always, you can vote with an Affidavit and refile to be put back on the registrar.One more thing: The idea that individuals are responsible for themselves saves the Government from making insane laws that would take an army of people to enforce. In just a few short months, the Congressmen in Jackson removed the flag of 1894, wrongly or rightly; this shows all Mississippians and me that they can fix anything that leadership wants.
